I had been looking at whether to do a driving course or to upgrade the cams on the MX5 to extract some more power. I had looked at the Total Car Control website but felt a bit intimidated by the photos of all the supercars! However, having telephoned and talked to you I decided to book and do the 2-day Total Control Masterclass, as I felt there was more to be gained by improving my driving with the car I had than in having more power but still not be in a position to exploit it.

I found the 2 days both very informative and fun. Your instruction style is very friendly and your reserves of patience immense!

For others reading this and considering a course, Millbrook is a fabulous facility, with numerous tracks to develop different aspects of your driving. Beware, this level of concentration is hard work and at the end of the day I was knackered! Day two, on the road, we put into practice the skills we had looked at on day one, plus more road based skills. Again, very informative and fun. The satisfaction of hitting a series of corners at speed whilst managing the weight transfer was huge, and all done in a safe and controlled manner.

The only issue I had, apart from my abject failure on the skid pan, was that I realised, as with most skills, that the more you learn you realise how much more you don’t know! For me, the cost of the course is a substantial amount of the value of my car! However, if you are serious about improving your driving, learning to exploit the performance of whatever car you own and doing it in a safe, controlled manner, you would struggle to do better than doing this course with Ivan.
